My wife and I were discussing Longo and what we find un-human is not the great talent or genetics but the ability to motivate herself year after year to do the hours of pain to get in shape to be competitive at that level. Many lose the hunger, motivation and struggle through injuries and setbacks to keep going and competing. She is the poster child for the woman who likes to suffer. The younger women, and in fact all racers, know how hard it is to succeed at that level and although others lost to her, they know she was willing to suffer completely and more than they were. She is a true champion for the ages.
