Do not get a Republic, they are in the same realm as the previous companies; crappy frames with crappy components.
It's really up to you and what bike you like, any of the BikesDirect bike will suit your need really.
Don't listen to others when you hear Big Shot, Republic, Sole, etc etc etc.
