Thread: dumb question but....how do you keep from scraching drop bars installing the stem?

Take the stem out of the fork.
Note, they are made so where the bolt is , is narrower than the top edge
the clamping surface is tapered, that narrower side of the stem goes to the inside of the bend,
an you wind the bar thru the stem.
