I'm a 20 year old whose been smoking for 5 years and the one thing that's caused me to relapse after stopping for a few days/weeks each time is the habbit of going out and going through the motions of smoking (often involving a group smoking setting). I feel like the physical effects have very little to do with smoking for me in comparison to the regularity and habbit I've built with it. Suggestions I've gotten from other sources are toothpicks, food, and soda when the feeling strikes to avoid falling back into it.
Food is a slippery slope unless you carry carrot sticks. Gum is the crutch of choice. Keeping your hands busy can be harder, I used to peel beer bottle labels And shred bar mats. Always thought it would be good to do minature origami like the guy in Bladerunner

Rest assured the feeling will pass. Just do it.
