How did she like it? Does she like the seat?
A word of caution - the stem looks to be raised too high out of the steering tube. I had one break off in my hands once because it was too high. This happened while riding in traffic. <-- bad juju, that.
Either lower it down or get your mom an especially made tall stem. I think VO and others have them.
Thanks for the word of caution. That could have gone really south! I went back and looked at the photo to see what you meant; I think that's just a funny cameral angle illusion. I had it set level with the saddle (still highish, yes, but not nearly as high as it looks). I had to take it apart to ship it to her in Maryland, and she had some LBS guys put it back together, so I'm sure it's fine. I think it was basement stored most of its life. The only cosmetic work it needed was shining up the chrome (pinpoint rust) and I had to paint in some missing lettering in a few decals. I'll be interested in her response to the saddle, too. I've never ridden a VO before. Still waiting for a review of it that's longer than tooling around the neighborhood. She's supposed to do a 40 m covered bridge tour in the next few weeks, so I'll know more then.
