+1 Tried it a couple of times early on in my cycle-commuting carreer, but quickly switched to a different material. Some oversized thriftstore pants I found. My distances in those days were 7-10 miles at the most and I couldn't afford cycling specific, so I made do. From the description it sounds like these are being marketted to youth culture. I'd bet a true hipster wouldn't be caught dead in them. That being said I'd imagine that same hipster wouldn't mind the attentions of one wearing the 'cropped skinnys'.
