Where are Levi's made now? I heard they packed up all the manufacturing and moved to China. My cheap WalMart jeans are made in Mexico so at least it helps our southern neighbors.
It used to be that Levi's red-tabs were still made in the USA, but they farmed out their Levi's Signature (Wal-Mart) line of stuff south of the border. Then they moved everything except for a few styles (501 and maybe one other) to Mexico. Last I knew, all Levi's production was moved there.
I'm a Lucky Brand guy, personally. (I have no clue where they're made.) I wore Levi's up until just this year and got a few pairs of some "designer" stuff and some Luckys. Far more comfortable, definitely; but I wouldn't go riding around in my CoH's. But I find that the seam on the Luckys is less noticeable when riding, and stuff in the pockets doesn't dig in like with Levi's. The denim is a lighter hand, but doesn't seem like it's any less sturdy. On the plus side, there's *always* a sale on their website and you can pick a pair up for $45, which isn't that bad considering what some other companies charge.
