rustbelt, oil the place where the spring meets the caliper arm at the bottom. That might help.

I'll bet Sheldon Brown explained chain elongation, but I'm too tired to look it up. "Stretch" is really the wrong word for it.

I once owned the catalog with that racy picture. I wish I still had it now!
