More to the point... how do car seats work on buses? How would my wife lug around TWO car seats?
I have never used car seats on buses, infants or otherwise. The car seats only come out when we have a rental car. We first went car-free when our daughter was just shy of a year old and our son was five. At that time we were living in a city that wasn't very bike friendly but did have extensive public transit that we utilized. Of course our son was old enough to walk everywhere, but we found that a sling when our daughter was small and a backpack when she was older was very useful. It freed us from needing to take her out of a stroller and collapse it on the bus, and left me with both hands free to keep the older child in check in a crowded situation.
