I'm slow, I like to stop a lot, and I haul a big heavy trailer.
The average of my average speed is, on average, 8.5mph
On flattish terrain, I try to cruise around 12mph. When I fall below 10mph without a good excuse(hill, headwind), I feel kinda lame. I usually avoiding looking at my speed, for that reason.
These numbers are figured from several one or two night trips over the last few months. Lots of headwind, no mountains. Hopefully once I leave on the big trip it won't get
worse. Every time I slowly chug up a hill, I think "Oh god what if this went on for miles what would I do?". Going to find out soon....
