Well, they say with planes, that any landing you walk away from is a good landing, so sounds like you did all right.
I've made a couple of calls like that, hated doing it, but never regretted it, either.
I did have one neat experience, though. I was out riding my Worksman cruiser on a long loop, got hot, ran out of water. Just about then, a lady in a convertible stopped and asked if I needed water. I don't know if she was psychic or sent from above or whether I just looked dry, but it sure was nice, and got me on around the loop.
