Sorry, I wish I'd seen this before I went to the bike shop. I didn't get any pictures, but it says "Sunway Group Co LTD" on one of the cogs.
End result was we absolutely could not get it off. The freewheel did not follow Sheldon Brown's guide at all and the wheel ended up getting trashed. So, I took nfmisso's and tjspiel's suggestion and took the opportunity to upgrade my wheel to a cassette. It doesn't look tremendously different, but the spokes are black instead of silver. So I will have slightly mismatched wheels. The new one also has a quick release which is nice.
When other considerations allow, this will give me the opportunity to upgrade to brifters much more easily. I just wish I'd had more of a choice in the matter!
So chalk that up as a strike against the (new) Denali, it has an impossible to remove freewheel. Pics coming soon once I get the tire mounted on the new wheel.
