The taillight is wired to the front-most connection of the headlight (there are three downward-facing prongs on the light) and to ground, using a single wire to the back of the bike.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I feel I may have loosened something inside the light when replacing the bulb.
Did you change the wiring when you replaced the bulb? If not, you know you didn't mix up anything; if so, check B&M's literature for how the wires should be run. Did the taillight and headlamp-standlight continue to work with the blown-out old bulb? If so, you know that circuit doesn't rely on current through the bulb; if not, maybe it'd be worth it to try out a completely new bulb.
