The bald eagle
I saw a bald eagle the other morning while biking to work! They can be spotted somewhat frequently on my stretches along the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, but this was in a residential section a few miles from the river. It was flying toward me and I was enjoying the beauty of the sight. Until, however, it got close enough so I saw that it was actually a white bun being carried in a crow's beak. :-)
(I'm actually a pretty big fan of crows--quite the intelligent bird, and in the winter around here, about the only other living thing outside during my cold commutes. The West Niles virus sure decimated their numbers around here a few years ago, but they're finally rebounding!)
