Clearcoat...over Paint AND Polished aluminum...and decals....???

hello!

i have a vitus 979 frame, they look like this:

they are aluminum frames...MOST have the main triangle anodized a color, mine was powdercoated white....the paint was kind of bad, so since i have stripped the paint.

Now, i have polished ALL the frame up nice and pretty (using 320 grit sandpaper to 400 to 600 to 800 up to 1500! then simichrome polish) EXCEPT for the seat tube (central tube) which i did not polish and left sanded with 320....

THEN i primed it with etching primer, then painted it with several coats of metallic garnet maroon! looks good! yay!

BUT NOW HERE COMES THE QUESTIONS (thanks for reading up to now!)...

I have some original Decals i want to place on both the painted seat tube and rest of the polished tubes. i have NOT clearcoated YET....but i do have U-POL clearcoat (supposedly good stuff)

ANYWHO, im obviously going to place the decals on the painted seattube then clearcoat it so they are on good....

as i have mentioned i want to also put decals on the polished aluminum tubes....

WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO THE POLISHED ALUMINUM TUBES TO MAKE SURE THE DECALS STICK WELL?

IS CLEARCOATING THE DECALED POLISHED ALUMINUM TUBES AN OK THING TO DO?

im assuming what makes polished metal look shiny and pretty is the film the polish leaves behind, and that the film keeps both decals and clearcoat from sticking....

anywho, any advice is greatly appreciated!
