Don't really understand the question, but here are my main commute options in preferred order
-ride 9 miles each way. free! 40 mins
-ride 3.5 mi each way, park + drive remaining 5 mi. costs a bit of gas. 35 mins
-drive 9 mi to work, park there. costs $11 + gas. 25 mins.
-ride 3 mi on spare bike to lock at train station, take train to work. costs $6, 45 mins
-drive 3 mi to train station, park there, take train to work. costs $11.50 + gas, 45 mins
i can also get a bus+train combo although that takes ages.
if i have a full mech breakdown i can call home and get my bike picked up. it's happened once when i had no spare tube.
If my commute was less than 10 miles like yours, I wouldn't have needed to post this thread. However, I have a 52 mile door-to-door (r/t) by car and the Interstate.
