It would be an upgrade only for the frustration it will save you when it fails. My friend has a Bianchi 928 with full 105, and it had a FSA crank. two weeks ago the pedal fell off. Crank threads were shot. He bought a 105 crank, and I installed it for him. He is very happy with it. It looks a lot better too. Normally I don't advise in buying Shimano stuff, but in this case it would be a cost effective upgrade. Just don't buy a current model Ultegra or Dura Ace crank. Those things look horrid, I don't care how stiff they are.
