You have already re-routed the cables, if you can do that you should be able to tune-up your derailleurs as well. It is easier than you think.

Do you want to replace the shifter cables or the shifter housing? You could just replace the whole thing by getting a complete cable set. Yokozuna cables come to mind. If you are on a budget just go with Jagwire or whatever cable sets your LBS carry.
