Yes, I would only need to grab a new cable as the derailleur has been adjusted from factory. I am just re-running the cable so the brake and shift cables do not touch anymore. (somehow whoever wired the bike crossed the brake and shift cable)
I actually cross the cables on all of my bikes for more desirable housing routing. It's not wrong, it's just preference. Won't hurt performance at all and nobody will notice since it happens underneath your bb.
