But, to avoid disagreement but to shift the ground of debate a little

I think I read on this forum somewhere that the average peleton speed in the major tours has increased only very slightly since the 1960s. The reasons were voiced as more tactical riding and increased communication in the peloton, so the ride tactics are now no longer 'ride as hard as you can as long as you can'

So, them older lovely bikes covered the ground
