to me there are far to many variables to generalize carbon as being always the most comfortable. Tires will make a bigger difference. I've Owned lots steel (low end), 2 Aluminums, and just bought my first carbon this year. I like them all. If I wasn't racing Id still be riding Steel or Aluminum with down tube shifters. But if you have the money I'd indulge. and if you want comfort get something you can put 28 c tires on.
