You could spend a couple of weeks tooling around Des Moines on a vacation. Lots of great trails. Downtown is very bike friendly with many restaurants and bars with bike racks full. Several great locations just outside the city too. Great weather after the June rains.
I'm guessing there are quite a few other cities that would fit the bill.
that's a good idea! i read about some of those endless rolling singletrack plains in that area of the country. i think it was part of a story about the salsa fargo... i'll look it up, but let me know about similar places.
