Time for this week's end of week report. 577 miles on the bike now.

This has been an awful week for riding, constant rain at the times I ride the most. For this reason I didn't go riding as much as usual but I still got stuck in it quite a few times.

Went on the fast group ride this past Wednesday, but this time I finished even though I was dead last and behind the rest of the pack. I'm getting better but it's gonna take me a while to get to their level. Of course when I was about as far away from home as possible during the ride a severe thunderstorm kicked up. Strong winds, hard rain, close lightning, hail, everything. I was not a happy rider, and I had a very very tired distance to make it back home. Still, the Denali and I made it home without problems. Even with the strong winds it was pretty well planted. The hail bothered me most of all. It was only about dime sized but it hurt.

One thing I noticed is just how sympathetic cars were towards me during this storm. They'd wait for me to cross on red and show other acts of kindness. I guess they could tell that I was tired, wet, and unhappy.

Bike made it out okay and got the full post rain treatment to keep it running well and rust-free. The Tektro brakes and Kool-Stop pads work great in the rain, I couldn't really tell the difference in wet/dry performance. I also found that all my electronics are suitably waterproof, so yay for that. The whole bike did great considering the amount of crap and road sludge that got thrown up into the drivetrain. Didn't miss a beat.

And that pretty much describes how it rides these days, without a problem. Everything has sorted itself out and there's really nothing else of concern at the moment, not that I'm complaining about that. Going on another distance ride (for me) in the morning so we'll see how it does then.
