For comparison, I rode up the east side of Sonora Pass Road last Sunday. It tops out at 9600 feet, and the final mile averages 15%. Some short sections are at 26%. A buddy I was riding with said he saw 28% on his CicloSport computer at one point.
That's about when I start riding in zig-zags across the road.
