That's why I call the ones that clip in with a 'click', well... clips. I know the right term is clip-less, but that doesn't work either. AS you note, they clip in.
The ones that form a cage around your foot, I call those toe cages, or just 'cages. Never clips... which they're not.
I think I've had one too many Beam and Soda's....
