I never really thought about the problem with cross chaining until I got my new 10s bike. Mainly because with my old 7spd with steel chainrings, I just never had a problem in any way. I go small-small, big-big, and never give it a second thought. The chain angle just doesn't seem all that much compared to my new 10s. No rubbing, no abnormal sounds. Out of curiousity, is there still a problem with cross chaining an older steel 7spd?
