Of course road racing is more dangerous than riding the streets, and most of the time it has little to do with the support vehicles etc. Racing in a tightly-packed bunch of >100 riders is inherently dangerous. Bunch sprints are extremely dangerous. Descending at 100kph on twisting roads is dangerous.
