I fell the first time riding in clipless, while grinding up a pitifully small and not very steep hill on my (brand new that day) mountain bike. I was barely making forward progress when I ran completely out of steam and toppled ever so slowly sideways. And of course, I couldn't get my foot out of the pedal. Not only that, I fell on the downslope, then watched in bemusement as my bike did a full loop over me, finishing up below me on the hill with my feet still clipped in.

Naturally, there was an audience. Who applauded.
