I love my cx-bike as an allround but mostly gravelroad rider. It is set up almost like my roadbikes (slightly shorter top tube). It is faster than my MTB on tarmac and can do almost everything my hardtail can aside from more challenging trails with lots of bigger rocks. 50-11 gets me to around 70 k/h, more than enough on fireroads. You could get an 11-36 XT cassette to get a 34-36 gear ratio (you would need a longer arm on your RD probably)
