Starting Monday in my dept. (formulations) we now have a material stager that will retrieve and stage all of our materials needed to complete the work orders that our scheduler (also a new position) gave us for the day. Before we just got everything our selves. This is so, so stupid.
The problem is, work order completions and the time required to complete any given work order is so variable, this position is destined to fail. Sometimes, there is carryover into the next week, but more often then not (atleast for me), I complete my scheduled work orders early and pull forward into the next day/week or take work orders from my co-workers. Point is, the work order schedule here is never as planned, which is going to create alot of confusion and early/late material staging by this new materials guy.
It's an honest attempt to clean up and manage the inventory, but it's going to create an even bigger monetary loss from inefficiency in work order completions. It's going to be funny to watch it crash and burn but mostly just frustrating.
I anticipating alot of sitting around and bf surfing starting next week...
