Sure, so long as they're studded... with super-narrow 23c first since of ice and you'll be very sorry. It's the inbetween seasons and black ice on side-streets and corners that will catch you.

You can ride 23c if you don't weight much and there is no snow and ice, but sewer grates and streetcar tracks are that much more troublesome.

In short, studded tires once morning temps are near freezing and take the bus if there is a crazy storm.
