Sorry, you're right if it was the 23mm version. The sources I checked earlier all said 80-100, but Michelin's site says 87-116 for the 23mm width (lower for wider tires).

In any case, it wasn't the heat that killed it off, except maybe in the context of delivering the coup de grace. The tire shows clear evidence of bruising, and you might want to consider wider tires if that's indicative of your roads.
