• If Garmin units calculate speed via GPS, then why do they sell a separate cadence/speed sensor? Is that just for speed?
Besides measuring cadence, the sensor kicks in when the unit can't receive a GPS signal, ie roads with heavy tree cover, or in the basement when using a trainer or rollers.
