Shimano did make 126mm freehubs for use with a 7sp cassette. They were short lived. I seem to recall a 600 version and maybe Exage. I don't believe, however, Shimano has ever produced a cartridge bearing hub.
Was at the LBS just a while ago and saw one on a Lemond Reno. Bike mechanic pointed out how difficult it would be to find a replacement. The gruppo on the bike was 600.
