Okay, maybe it's naive of me but I've only just realised the horror of looking for replacement non-aero hoods for campagnolo levers (who would have thought those little pieces of degradable rubber would be so annoying?) Anyway I've given up any hope of finding an acceptable substitute and am unwilling/unable to spend the $50 plus for reproduction ones. Even the cheapo ones from places like loosescrews.com are too expensive to post to Ireland!

So my question is has anyone tried the current Cane creek (dia compe) ones? (they look awful but at least I'm looking for black not gum) or any other non campagnolo specific ones like the kind you might find in a used parts bin at your lbs? It's not a period correct bike I've got, I just want something that doesn't look frightful. By the way I don't really ride on the hoods, what's the verdict on running super record levers with no hoods??? Cheers for any input.
