It's become the normal mindset anymore -- "nobody in sight right now, nobody's there at all, I can go do what I please."
I have a similar problem with my 17-y-o nephew; he seems CONVINCED that he can just PROCEED wherever he's decided to go, and anyone who doesn't look behind them to see him coming is at fault, and gets barked at. Does it on foot, does it on a bike. And, he wants a CAR.................
