The problem with Rock Creek is that the MUP adjacent to Rock Creek is that it is poorly paved, and in some spots, it's not anything but dirt! I rode down Rock Creek this morning, and eyeing the path as I rode, I could see that it was not a full path, so at some points, you would have to jump out on the road, and in other parts, it is so poorly maintained that it's not possible to ride. So there's probably about a third of that MUP I would not even ride. And that is not even including the parts that are so narrow that I could not imagine how traffic in both directions on that path can possibly be maintained. Aaack! On a day when there are a lot of pedestrians, a bike would be impossible.

For the most part, DC, Maryland, and VA have great provisions for cyclists, and I find this area of the country for cycling so much more refreshing than being in Chicago. However, I was telling DC Emily that some trails are like the Mae West of riding... when it's good, it's very very good, but when it's bad... it's very very bad.

Still considering the laws of Maryland and DC, the cyclists Mr. Kalb spoke of were in no way violating the law. He's just a road rager, and a typical one, at that.

I'll be watching for Mr. Kalb anyway... anything happens to me while he's out driving behind me, I'll have the audio as proof of his intent to maim or cause bodily harm.
