Sounds like your left pedal was assembled with the wrong axle. Exchange it for a correctly assembled pedal.

Your bike is fine. Shimano's QC is fine. You just happened to be the one-in-a-million guy who this happens to. Next time, if something feels wrong on a threaded part, take the time to inspect the threads. If the left pedal threads mesh with the right pedal threads, something is wrong
