Bikes: -1973 Motobecane Mirage -197? Velosolex L'Etoile -'71 Raleigh Super Course

I'm putting a UO-8 on a diet-- my Mudblood build in my sig-- and I came across a French-threaded Vitus 888 fork with a nice deep curve to it. I think it came off a Moto Grand Touring. So: would someone with experience with both these bikes let me know if this is a good or a bad idea? Will I improve anything, or will I end up with the worst of both worlds? Because I can save a good half pound just with a fork swap. I just don't want to wreck the ride.
