Ok... from the horses mouth now.
Went into the LBS to talk to the owner ( didn't even bring the bike with me because we were unsure what we were going to do as far as keeping it) having no expectations other than letting him know what had happened.( keep in mind that if we go out and have bad service at dinner, we let the MGR know AFTER we pay the check b/c we are not ones to get something for nothing) Funny thing is that he had been going through the work orders and was puzzled by this one already and planned on asking what the deal was. He thought it was a customer request to put all Mitis parts on an Onix frame. So, I told him very politely in his office about the pedal "discount" dupe, the swapping of parts that was not discussed, etc. (didn't mention the seats b/c that was my fault for not pricing around enough... not the LBS). I told him that over the past 10 years, we have had good service, but of late is was severely lacking. He agreed that the MGR in question had made a poor poor choice and should have never ever taken anything off that was not agreed upon. He said that it was not even standard practice in his shop.... usually at cust. req. only.
He looked up our tickets and saw the amounts we have spent with him, then showed me his protocol for cust. serv., class handouts on bikes for employees, etc. Long story short, he insisted that I bring the bike back in to be redone to full spec... and keep on the upgraded wheels( Mavic Equipe to Elite). I said thank you but no we think we got a fair deal but were unhappy that we had to fight to get it. He still insisted, so I told him I would talk to hubby about it. Hubby of course is all a go, so the bike is just home from the shop and in it's original state. And.... an apology from the MGR that started this mess. The owner agreed that the misleading statements about the pedal prices was just that ... misleading and said he was going to get to the bottom of it. Bottom line is that I won't buy my Cervelo there... but we will have to take the Orbea there for service b/c they are the only dealer. I don't trust the guy that started this and if he is still working there... I will not be back most likely. The owner was plenty pissed enough though to make me think he really had no clue and was completely embarrassed by the whole thing. On my way out he asked me to drop by a resume sometime as they are trying to incorporate more women into their cust. serv. team. Wierd huh?

Also... I never ever intended to stereotype or characterize all shop employees as unethical or bad or whatever and I'm sorry if anyone took it that way. I just meant that there were a few bad apples and I wasn't sure if I maybe had found one. The girl who has done most of our wrench work is great. It's the sales people you have to watch out for sometimes.
