^ This is exactly right!

Seriously though. When I picked up my Williams System 30s there were some apparent differences. Easier to attack the rolling hills, improved climbing for certain. They also handle strong cross winds better than my old Rolfs which are a 30mm rim also.

When I ride my LeMond with the heavier Rolf rims the differences are quite apparent nowdays. It may not equate to much of a time difference but without a doubt I am expending less energy.

I've actually dropped some serious change now for another custom build that will drop atleast another 200 grams from the set as well as giving me some better Alchemy hubs. This will allow me to move the Williams to my Lemond.
