I don't think I know a single person that has bought a bike to "impress" anybody. They bought it because they could afford it and wanted a nice bike. I don't think a dude would care what another mans bicycle is on anything but a very superficial level (eg, a quick 'hey, nice bike!' might be all you'd get).
