I see #1 as being theoretically true, but honestly, anything worth bidding on is pretty obviously going to get a good bid and not go unnoticed. There definitely WILL be bids, even if last minute, on such items - I've sold my fair share of stuff and never get rattled by zero bids even until the final 30 minutes - if other items are going for such a price, yours is going to go too.
