Sometimes it does. One shop changed owners and threw away tons of old brake hoods, a big stash of french stuff, lots more. In the dumpster. one of the new employees told me they were focusing more on the "crowd that spends money".
Yesterday I dumped several hundred at another shop, the one that kept everything. And it was all things like new wheels, tires tape, two shorts, all sorts of spokes... Heck, I spent 40 bucks on nipples alone.
