Thanks for the input Road MTB.

And I plan to put some slicks on the cyclocross, because while the lanes are small, they are actually pretty well preserved, and the gravel is fairly fine. Then put the more nubby tires on later in the season when there is some snow. And finally if necessary I might grab some studded tires too.

I think i've settled on the Motobecane. Really all i need to start cycling is a water bottle, bottle rack, helmet and gloves. I'm hoping to pick these up from somewhere like Nashbar.com for cheap.
