aahhhh! so *that* is what people were doing when I was passing through that area on my way to Dunkerque to cross to Dover by Ferry (I started in Utrecht, Holland, heading to Penzance, UK) during my May tour.
A group of DF riders in similar outfits were calling out to me when I passed, but due to the windscreen I wasn't sure if they were cheering me on, or upset because I was passing them - me, a 43 year old, slightly over-weight website developer teacher, carting 30 kg of camping equipment with me!
I was riding my Nomad with the prototype Wildcat fairing at the time:
I wasn't going too fast - around 35 kph I think - but for about 5-6 km they were drafting off of me (or trying to) until they turned off onto a side route near Oostende.
