You don't want a 9 speed chain. 7 speed is what you want.

All of what you need can be easily purchased from your LBS(LocalBikeShop). There is no need for fancy Shimano cables/housings from Nashbar. the LBS will sell it to you by the foot, just buy what you need and get to know the local guys, and help support them. You may really need them one day.
