My wife and I had gone to Las Vegas to celebrate our 10th anniversary. She had surprised me by suggesting that we take a ride together, something she had never wanted to do in the past.

We had an awesome ride through the Red Rock Canyon loop and were heading back to the bike shop, riding about 20 - 25 mph on a long downhill, in a bike land, me in front and my wife following 10 yards behind. About a quarter mile away from the bike shop, a 75 year old lady in an Acura SUV had made her way half way across the boulevard, then accellerated across the remaining half, hitting me broadside, bouncing me off the hood. I landed 20 feet down the road on my forehead and knees on the asphalt.

Amazingly I survived. I have one knee full of raodrash, the other knee swollen and sore and some scrathes on my nose and chin. Also a great many cuts, scratches, aches and pains.

Needless to say, I'm happy to have survived, but kind of pissed.

Also, suffice it to say, I'm not sure my wife will be riding with me again any time soon. She says she is having post-traumatic stress syndrom and nightmares about me flying through the air.
