Yep, any mileage between my house and work, or between work and my house, I count as a commute.
Yesterday I went from work to Starbucks (to kill 30 minutes), to my dental appointment, to the grocery store and then home and counted all that as miles. What alternative is there?
This morning, it was so nice I rode 38.77 miles from my house to work instead of taking my "normal" 10. That's 38.77 miles commuting as far as I am concerned.
I don't see how else to do it.
