Because for those of us living in urban areas, being seen is the only reason we need the lights. Street lights are plenty for me to see the road.
I've also got a Princeton Tec Switchback 3 for when I ride trails or in the suburbs at night, but there's no sense in lugging around a $200 light when you don't need it.
